photoshop cs2 import problem with the acquisition interface

From Photoshop CS2, I am getting the message "Could not complete the import because of a problem with the acquisition module interface.". Everything runs fine until the scan finishes and the scan results are passed to Photoshop. Also, Silverfast will not "Quit". I have to exit Photoshop or use Task Manager to stop Silverfast.

I am Running Windows XP SP2 and Silverfast AI v6.4.4r36. I can run Silverfast in standalone mode without problem. Only when I attempt an import into Photoshop do I get this problem.

I have re-installed Silverfast, no change. I have reset my preferences in Silverfast, no change. I have reset my preferences in Photoshop, no change. I am trying to avoid re-installing Photoshop.

Does anyone have any ideas other than re-install Photoshop?

Dear BeauImage

that's strange. So either SilverFast gets no "Import completed" signal from Photoshop and therefore stalls (and consequently hangs Photoshop), or it doesn't send Photoshop a signal "No more data" buts stalls, and this leads to the Photoshop error message and programme freeze.

Please try what happens, if you'd do the very same scan from the SF_Launcher. If it can complete the scan and can be closed down as expected (or does properly do so itself - depending on SF setup), SF works alright.
But if SF is the problem here, it will also stall, like in the above case.

I can launch Silverfast as an independant program and it will "save to file" normally. That is how I have been functioning while I troubleshoot this problem. Additionally, I was working fine until I did the latest upgrade to Silverfast. I have been using the "plug-in" but I get the same result on the "twain" version. I did not see any information on the Photoshop forum on this subject.

Thanks

I renamed my file "SF (MICROTEK ScanMaker i700).prf". Located at /Documents and Settings/(your username)/Application Data/LaserSoft Imaging. It then asked for my serial number. After completing that successfully, I tried it and it is back to its same old Silverfast.

Thank You.
