HDR scans of negative for subsequent NegaFix processing

Hi. I began experimenting with various DEMO versions of SilverFast (with my Minolta 5400 ver 1) and really like the results. However, I ran into problems with HDR scans of negatives: When I load these images into HDR Studio, NegaFix is unable to properly invert the colors. The inverted images never look as nice as if I had made 48-bit Color scans into SE or Ai Studio with NegaFix on. What should I do?

p.s. My display is calibrated and I have no difficulty with HDR scans of positives.

hi cpclee.

there should be no real differtance. just make
1. cms configuration.
2. in nega-fix, choose your scanner above there.
3. now choose either the preset film profile, or choose "other" and calibrate your negative film. u can do it with the nega-fix-curves editing and adjustment. note: negafix curves, not the normal "gardation curves".
4. make sure that before calibration of your film, the adjusting tools "like levels, curves, global color, and acr" are reseted.
5. also, in the other, u can use either linear curve or standart, both are editable of course. what the movie how it can be done.
6. tip: in "options/general dialog box, put your gamma to the gamma of your monitor either 1.8 or 2.2. below, there is another gamma configuration which is normally set to 1.00. u can readjust this one too as u feel better. the higher u go the darker the image will be, so u may need it. it helps very much with calibration of your negative. personally - i love to use the "linear curve, and adjusting primerly the gamma is very important for that.
and of course, use the correct gamma when u scan (in ai software where u make your hdr file).
