Having recently been getting grain the size of footballs and looking like film reticulation I was interested in the sharpening discussion in the Tricks and Hints section of the Forum. Ian Lyons tutorial on Grain reduction looked promising. While my system seems to be functioning perfectly in most situations (now) it has revolted at trying Descreening AND Unsharp masking. It will never complete the function and will lock up the system! My system is Nikon Ls-2000,Photoshop 6.01 on Windows 2000 pro. Does this function utalise a great deal of RAM? Any ideas.

And I thought I was the only one with this problem! I started descreening after reading Ian's excellent grain reduction article also and for some reason the funtion has started to hang photoshop totally. Per my post in this form, I am running XP and PS6.01. I don't think it's ram since I have 1GB. Thank god XP allows me to kill the photoshop task...Check out my posts in this forum.
