A basic question yes, but what is the best way to do this. I am using OS X 10.3.9 and Photoshop CS2 (PsCS2)

Do you have a "Launch SilverFast" icon on your desktop? If you do you should be able to start and use SilverFast without CS2 open. I have a Windows XP system, and don't know if the Mac version provides the same functionality.
