AI 6.4.2r9 Has started Hanging on startup. Can't get going

I've been using SilverfastAI for a few mnths and updated to 2rd a week or so ago. I used silverfast all morning without troubles starting both from the launcher and from photoshop.

Sometime this after noon, I started from the Launcher. Saw the normal dark screen with silverfast logo. In a few seconds that screen turns white (but can still see silver fast logo) and says `initializing'. There is where it hangs ... forever. Samething when launched from Photoshop.

I can't think what to do so uninstalled and reinstalled completely. It had no impact at all. Still stalls out at that same point.

What can I do to debug this?

Harry,

You didn't say if you are using a MAC or a PC. If you are using a PC try deleting the "prefs" located C:\Documents and Settings\[your logon name]\Application Data\Lasersoft Imaging\SilverFast\Prefs if you are using Windows XP.

If that does not solve the problem then goto the link below and complete a support form.

Good Luck!

Sorry, it was PC and your remedy worked. I moved a few files out of the line of fire:
SF (Epson Perfection4870).prf
SF (Epson Perfection4870_DFLT.xpf
SFApp (Epson).prf

All have been recreated after using Silverfast for awhile.

Thank you

By the way Rag, I had already sent in one of those trouble tickets but didn't expect to hear back before monday at earliest so the forum seems to have filled in the time gap. Thanks.... I'm slavishly scanning and fixing now.
