To scan Kodachrome 35mm slide - Ai6 IT8 & Kodachrome tar

Hello to all,

A bit of a newbie question, but I want to make sure I'm barking up the right tree before I go ahead. I'm trying to learn as quickly as possible, as I've a bunch of Kodachrome 35mm slides that I want to scan and do justice to for my family. :)

I've just bought a Canon 9950F flatbed scanner, and been told that the direction to go for software is the Silverfast Ai6 IT8 bundle. If I can then source a Kodachrome IT8 slide target (from somewhere in the UK), will Ai6 be able to calibrate with that, as well as with the bundled target?

If this _is_ the way to go, where can I get a Kodachrome 35mm slide target from in the UK?

I was looking at the HDR package, but then realised that this is only needed if you want to store scans at 48bit to edit later, whereas I think I correct in assuming that Ai6 will scan at 48bit but you have to make processing decisions at the time of scanning before exporting to TIFF?

Many thanks for your patience, with kind regards,
Simon.

Dear Simon

according to the reference files present on the Kodak FTP server, there is but limited choice in IT8 targets (only manufactured in 1999) on Kodachrome film.
It might not be easy to find someone who still sells them. You perhaps want to ask Kodak UK support themselves about this.

Best regards
