Dear Beat
infrared scanning automatic image correction has its limitations, too.
B/W and certain b/w-based film materials don't go well with infrared scanning because of the way they refract the IR light.
This isn't specific to SilverFast
iSRD, but can also be experienced with ASF/Kodak Eastman's ICE: <a href="http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nikoneurope_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2121&p_created=1054125000&p_sid=loD_sIPh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MyZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWtvZGFjaHJvbWU*&p_li=&p_topview=1">Using Digital ICE with black and white or
