Today Silverfast 5.5 has jumped to 5.5.1 r3.
Have you installed it yet? Do you know what is new with this update? If so post it here.
I hope that this means that the installer has been fixed. I am in the middle of scanning a loarge number of transparencies and up to now, each update has wiped out all of my custom settings, my serial number and IT-8 calibration.
If something had been fixed or upgraded I'd like to use the new feature, but I cannot afford to spend time setting up my scanners again.
Please, anyone who has installed a 5.5.1 version please let us know here if all of your settings were wiped out or if they are finally being saved.
Thanks,
Junebug

Hi,
I just installed it yesterday (for LS-4000).
I uninstalled 5.5.0 R18 via the usual uninstall dialogue of Windows and then installed 5.5.1. It worked fine and all my settings INCLUDING IT8 were still there. I did not have to enter registration codes again.
Bye
Andreas

Thanks Andreas...
I forgot to mention that I am on a Macintosh.
The Silverfast Installer/Updater Macintosh version is the one that deletes all of you serial, upgrade, preferences, and custom settings each time you run the installer/updater...
Have any Macintosh users installed a 5.5.1 Silverfast yet? Has the installer been fixed?

Junebug,
The installer does NOT delete or overwrite your old preferences.

Dear Ian Lyons, Macintosh Users and Silverfast Support Type People,
Just installed Silverfast 5.51r3 on two Macintosh computers. (versions for Nikon LS2000, Epson 800, HDR all with IT-8)
All of my previous serial numbers, upgrade numbers, IT-8 calibrations, and custom settings are gone.
Each time an update arrives, I must copy/record all of my custom settings and preferences. Locate all of my serial and update numbers. Find all of my IT-8 targets.
And finally, manually update, re-enter and recreate all settings.
This takes a lot of time and care and I never get it right the first time.
There is a lot of wasted time doing this. I would rtather be tweaking and improving my Silverfast Scanning Skills.
HELP! Fix the Macintosh installers.
I cringe each time I see an update. I must be on my 50th update/version re-installation.
I love Silverfast, but this "Installer Glitch" is getting old and counter productive.
