How to select frames from prescan

Hello,
I would like to know how to prescan 35mm negatives such that I can select which frames to scan and then scan them at once
I have the demo version, and would purchse if I could do this.
I have a canon 9950f and this task is obvious with the canon software. I prescan, select the frames with checkboxes, scan, and then I have files for each selected frame.
Is it possible to do this with silverfast? If so how?
I have see some other postings seeming to ask the same questions, but the responses are vague, and do not esplain exactly how to do this. I have seen mention of configuring the software by specifying the layout of the frames.
BTW, I can see that silverfast scans have much more information in the shadows, and that why I would like to use it.
