1/2 TIFF and NEF formats

I've noticed elsewhere in these forums that there's a compressed TIFF format version which reduces a 110 MB scan to a 55 MB one. Is there a way to scan right into it in Ai, and save into it in HDR? I have the regular latest 6 versions of both (6.4.1r4b), and don't see any compressed TIFF options. Is it only available in the Studio versions?

Also, how about HDR reading NEF results from NikonScan -- what are the pros and cons for using Ai/HDR versus NikonScan/HDR?

We currently do not support compressed (LZW) tiff files. This used to be a licensing issue, the LZW compression algorithm was copyrighted material.

We now more focus on even more efficient, lossless compression methods, e.g. jpeg 2000. Our studio-versions do offer full support for JPEG 2000.
