Silverfast do multiscan?

I have a Nikon 4 ED (LS-40) film scanner and I was wondering if any versions or which versions of Silverfast possess a multiscan function that can co-exist with my scanner - or even with any Nikon film scanner in case I buy a better Nikon scanner.

Thanks

Well, on my cs4000 and the 5000 Nikon supports single pass MultiSampling. Since Silverfast is using the same library it supports it as well. If that is what you mean by Multiscan, then yes. If you mean multiple passes, no, unless you want to consider scanning the same image multiple independent times. There is usually a problem with pixel registration when you do multiple passes. Don't know about the 40 or 50. If NikonScan supports it, then likely Silverfast will as well. You can easily download the correct version for a trial and confirm.

SilverFast Ai STUDIO and SE Plus now support Multi-Sampling

We are happy to announce that we have managed to solve the pix registration problem for the Multi-Sampling process for all scanners that do not support Multi-Sampling in their hardware.

This is now the feature of the month and can be studied here:

https://www.silverfast.com/show/silverfa ... ng/en.html

With that feature quite a few scanners will get a real enhancement of their dynamic range and with the lack of noise can apply more sharpness (USM) effectively!

SilverFast Multi-Sampling in SilverFast SE Plus and Ai STUDIO

Dear SilverFast User,

Since this development was accomplished with quite some investment, we have to make some money with it, so we can pay our good programmers!

This function is definitely worth spending 59 US$ on the Upgrade to the STUDIO version and in addition you would get other nice enhancements along with that. You virtually make your scanner into a new machine with a much higher quality!
