Microtek4000tf Error message: "An error occured...scann

Postby MicroSF6 » Wed Mar 16, 2005 5:12 pm

When trying to open SilverFast 6 I received error message as follows: "An error occured at the start of the scanning process. Cannot calibrate scanner." This message kept coming up every time I tried to open SF6.

This issue raised by me in previous posting. Have finally found a work-around for it.

1) With computer on insert slide/negative carrier into scanner.
2) Let scanner accept carrier.
3) Only after doing all of the above proceed to Prescan and Scan. Works for me every time.

Have been using Firewire connection for 2 years without following above procedure and never had problem. Problem only began with v6.4.1r3. In process of trying to fix changed to USB. I don't dare go back to Firewire. Think best to leave well enough alone.

Dear MicroSF6

actually your 'workaround' is the proper way of using the scanner.

Happy scanning,
