I currently have a license for Silverfast 6 Ai with IT8 calibration for my Nikon LS-2000 scanner. I'm considering the purchase of an Epson 4870 scanner. Since I'm an exisiting Silverfast customer, is there an advantage to purchasing an upgrade to my current license to include support for the Epson 4870, or is buying the Pro version from Epson the way to go?

gherman,
I don't know what the official LaserSoft answer to your question is, but in my opinion let the cost to you be your guide. The product itself is not the question and in my humble opinion the difference is what you pay for the product.
Hope this helps!

gherman, if i understand your question correctly, you want to upgrade your nikon silverfast app to include support for the epson? lasersoft considers them different apps, so that you will have to puchase a wholly separate version of silverfast (full price) to run the epson. the different silverfast apps are not transferable to different scaner manufacturers and models.

There should be some sort of discount for buying additional scanners, after paying for the first one. If there isn't, I'm really feeling like they don't value repeat customers. (After all, they don't re-write all the code for each scanner... they only change a small portion of the entire product.)

The epson photo comes with an upgradable version of Silverfast, at least mine did. If you buy the epson pro it comes with AI and then you might consider upgrading to AI Studio.

I was looking at both with and without. There are a number of good prices being offered on the scanner w/o the software. For seem reason, once the sw bundle is added there is less discounting.
I'm a lonely home user of this software and I've spent more on Silverfast than I have with Photoshop. I love the Silverfast product, but their pricing structure is a real downer.
