"Banded" scans ?
PostPosted: Fri Nov 19, 2004 3:51 am
Hello,
After not having used my Nikon 4000ED scanner in a year, I wanted to scan negatives today. The first 2 worked fine, but then the scans got really weird. I closed the applications and rebooted, but this did not change anything in the scans.
I noticed that the third image (first problem scan) was "banded" in the prescan and mirror imaged. Weird I thought. After having gone thru the steps and clicking on the final scan, I noticed that the image seemed blurry and too bright in Photoshop CS. So I repeated the scan with corrections and the exposure was better, but it was still banded. A few more tries, but no improvement. The fourth scan (new image) was also reverse and banded but the last scan had me puzzled even more. This scanned negative was now in stripes, scanned partly correct and partly mirror imaged.
Is this a Silverfast problem, or is it something in the Nikon scanner that I would have to send in for repair?
I'm not sure if you understand my problem nor how to word it so it makes sense, but here is a link to those weird images....

I'm using Silverfast Ai version 6.
Thanks for any suggestions and help on this...
