David,

Thanks for the advice - I called and talked to Martin - he was really helpful and got me hooked up with a username and password quick. He also helped me with the IT8 serial #. I was really impressed by their customer support, and now I'm excited to scan in some of my particularly challenging negatives I've been having trouble with!

If you didn't recieve a user name/password upon upgrading, please send a message to info@silverfast.com

Some of the original orders went out before the passwords were implemented, so they didn't appear on the receipts.

I paid my $45 for the upgrade to 5.5 and received a user name, password, and serial number almost immedeately via e-mail. I was also told that I could convert the demo. But I never ordered the demo in the first place because I heard a week ago on Tony Sleep's Filmscanners List that the demo couldn't be converted in spite of what US SilverFast was claiming. So I went in directly to get my upgrade and bypassed the demo process. However, my password and user name weren't recognized. They haven't answered my e-mail about the problem either. It seems that the only thing that works at SilverFast is their ability to take our credit card numbers. Everything else is in meltdown.

Roger,

Just try giving them a call - yeah I know it's long distance, but they're really helpful, and they'll take care of you right away over the phone.

Thanks, Paul. I'll take you up on your offer as I don't want anything to fall throught the cracks. I did end up calling SilverFast, was treated well, and got my questions answered. Phoning is the only way to go as e-mails don't get answered very quickly. As for my problem with passwords and user names, SilverFast sent me the wrong ones. (A user name for a Umax, not a Polaroid, for example.) But Annie gave me the right ones over the phone. She also got me upgraded for HDR rather the the one for Ai that I had ordered (I thought I got both for $45, but that's not how it works.). Sorry about so many posts, but I really want to use SilverFast; I don't want all of these problems to defeat me.

Please tell me my problem is that there is NO 'Update' button in the Credits window.

Are you guessing from experience or do you have a version 5.5? If the latter I will try and download another copy but I suspect this is another example of LaserSoft's brilliant User Interface,

I mailed them but - guess what - no reply.

Thanks please tell me :D
you got me thinking clearer here am i gonna be you and your sky as i stand
