I have recently undertaken the task of scanning in all my families photos through the years (Epson Photo-Perfection 4800). This includes prints, negatives, and slides; b&w and color. It's fun but I am god-aweful slow at it. In trying to solve this problem I am looking for a little help ...
1. I use the Epson supplied holders for my slides which positions them in a controlled location so I have setup 8 selection lassos where each of the slides resides. I would like to be able to just press a button and have each lasso scanned serially after the next. There's got to be way to do this, right?
2. I am a big fan of not doing too much in SilverFast and passing some of that responsibilty to Photoshop (using CS version). I know that is at least partially because I am much more comfortable with Photoshop. Question: when is that a bad idea? I would guess with CS's 48-bit support Photoshop is getting much more capable at handling the processing.
3. All the mentions of IT8 has me interested but I haven't really invested in understanding what it does for me. If effeciency is my goal should I spend the time to understand this whole IT8 thing? Can anyone point me at a good reference/instruction on it?[/list]
