Upgrading from 5.5

After a year of "scanning dormancy" I am in the process of getting my Polaroid SS4000Plus film scanner back into production. As I do so, I have a couple questions regarding a potential update of my copies of Silverfast AI and HDR from 5.5 to 6.0. Specifically:

1. Is there a place/link where I can specifically read about the improvements that I will gain fom such upgrading ?

2. Is there a separate upgrade fee for AI and HDR ? or Do I get both upgrades together ?

I have one additional question regarding the use of my IT8 target. Specifically:

What is the proper reference file to use in conjunction with an IT8 target labelled on the lower left side as:

IT8.7/1-1993
2001:10

and on the lower right hand side as

For Kodak Ektachrome Professional Films
Type 3

Thanks in advance for your help. I am looking forward to getting back into scanning with your great software !!!!

Dear Miguel Aleman.

Thanks for your interest in our SilverFast Software.

You can upgrade for each version individually online for $65,-

SilverFast offers more than 10 new features which you can see here --> https://www.silverfast.com/highlights/en.html.

In regards of your target I am not too sure yet. Type 3 indicates a Q60 target !?

Kind regards.

Thanks for your quick response.

A couple of follow-up questions:

1. Can I just upgrade HDR to 6.x and continue to AI 5.5 to generate the required 48 Bit Raw Data File ?

2. What are the implications of my IT8 target been Q60 ? Can I still use it to calibrate my scanner ? ==> IF so, please let me know which Reference File to use as soon as you find out what that should be! ==> If not, do I neeed to get another target ? Will I get a new target if I upgrade to 6.0 ?

Thanks

Miguel Aleman

Dear Mr. Aleman.

1. Can I just upgrade HDR to 6.x and continue to AI 5.5 to generate the required 48 Bit Raw Data File ? --> most certainly.

You can use your old target as well. I certainly recommend to get a newer Lasersoft IT8 target for color accuracy because all targets dye out (decolorize) in time.
For Kodak reference files please contact Kodak. The manufactorer of the targets is responsible for the reference files.

Kind regards.
