Selecting area to be Prescanned

Hello,
My sincere apologies for what is a really basic question ! I am a new Silverfast user and I cannot work out how to control the amount of scanner area silverfast prescans. At the moment everytime I want to do a prescan I am having to scan the complete scan bed. I'm currently doing 6 x 6 contacts, so only need to prescan a very small part of the A3 scanner bed. How do I do this ?

PS - I have spent hours reading Silverfast, The official guide before making this post, but this simple procedure has escaped me !

Dear user.
When you hit the "prescan" button, the "quit" button turns into "cancel". Hit the "cancel" button to abort the prescan or hit "Ctrl" + "." ("Cmd" + "." on MAC).

Hi Eric,
Many thanks for your advice, which is a great help.
Is there a way one can predefine the prescan area before starting the prescan and saving this prescan area as a standard setting ?
