Updating SF: is Uninstall still needed?

In order to update SF, the previous version had to be removed; that was my understanding. Is this still neccessary for v6.1x with its online updating feature?
The Online Update Feature is currently a way to download the update. You need also to deinstall and reinstall SilverFast as before.
