Hello,

First, my scribben (and spoken) english ist very bad...

We are a small and young company who specialiced by DVD premastering, authoring, audio handling and so on. Now we begin in artwork for some projekts. Today we use HP Scanjet 5550c. But the included HP Software is not optimized.

It seems to me SilverFast is a smart software we need. But in the "Supported Scanner" section i can't find our scanner model.

Can other user in this forum recommanded SilverFast for this scanner for all that?

If the HP 5550c saves 48 bit images, could you then use SilverFast HDR. I am also interested in this scanner primarily for B&W OCR work, but would like SilverFast support for those color images I will scan. It seems the HDR route would be feasible if the number of scans is not too large to handle due to time considerations. I think there is also a batch mode for HDR, correct? The latter might be a little expensive.

You could definitely use HDR. SilverFast HDR 6 includes the JobManager at no extra charge. This feature makes processing large amounts of images very efficient.

Thanks for the reply. I bought the scanner but have yet to need HDR. The scanner does save 48 bit files (I've forgotten how to do it, but I did it once) so I will try HDR, which I already have.

Not to quibble or seem ungrateful, but since you seem to be a represent LSI what is the reason for the 4 month response time?
