I have made many alterations to the Silverfast program settings that I would like to reset all of them to the original defaults. Is there some way to reset all of them (globally) with one or very few commands?

yes, there is a simple way to do it.
Please click in the wellcomescreen on "Service dialog" and then on "Software reset"
