I have installed SilverFast SE 5.5.0r11 for Nikon LS 40 on a Macintosh. The software works fine but I do not know how to enter my licence key (no dialog box appears). Consequently all my final scans contain unwanted text of the demo version.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Erik,
It sounds like you may have installed the Demo version by accident. Try uninstalling Silverfast, and download the installation file:
Plug-in:
http://www.silverfast.com/updates/SF55/ ... r12(NikonM).bin
TWAIN:
http://www.silverfast.com/updates/SF55/ ... r12(NikonM).bin
It should ask you for your serial # when you install it this time.
Also, you'll need a username and password if you don't to download them. The best (and quickest) way to do get them is to register your serial # here:
http://www.silverfast.com/register/index-en.html
or call them.

Thanks for the reply. I did download the normal 5.5 update and was able to get to the serialization dialog. However, after first asking for my original CD (SF SE 5.2 bundled with my Nikon LS 40), I get a new message:
"This serial number is able to unlock features, only. Please enter first the basic number and update via buttons Info -> Credits -> Upgrade". Unfortunately my original SilverFast SE 5.2 number is not accepted and I'm stuck again with demo mode.
Any suggestions?

Erik,
The easiest and best thing to do is to call their office - that's what I had to do, they'll probably have to give you different serial #s and everything like they did me.

Ian,
Thanks for your VERY fast reply. I mailed the problem also to their info e-mail address and I may also call them tomorrow.
What a hassle for this nice piece of software!

Erik,
I know - I think that their developers got the software finished before the rest of the company could catch up. I had to call them two or three times when I upgraded, but it was definitely worth it.
Even though we complain about this upgrade process and the lack of updated documentation, it's great that we don't have to wait for all of that stuff to be ready before we can get our hands on the new software. If Silverfast was like other, bigger compaines v5.5 might not even have been available until the end of this year when all their other stuff was in place.
Still, it can be frustrating, and I hope that you can get your version up and running soon.

Erik,
I have exactly the same problem and error messages as you with the SF 5.5 update(although I use a Nikon LS-2000), which suggests that LaserSoft needs to check the serialiasation numbers it is giving out and resend new ones.

Lasersoft was able to resend a new serialisation number to me within 12 hours, and now version 5.5 is working!

After a number of e-mail exchange and suggestions by LaserSoft staaf, they sent me a CD with the software (it was delivered very fast the next working day). I got my upgrade serial number finally to work.
