SilverFast and ICE
If I have a scanner with ICE, do I have to use the software supplied with the scanner to utilize ICE, or can I do it with SilverFast?

Dear Caleb.
This is absolutely correct for color film material. Since digial ICE uses the infrared channel to detect distortions, this will normally give better results than SRD (Smart Removal of Defects).
However, when using black and white films, dICE is not working. Here you can select SRD to eliminate dust and scratches.
Eric.

Amount of digital ICE controlable?
Can the amount of hardware digital ICE applied be controlled from the software? As far as I know NikonScan supports 2 different settings.

digital ICE the same as Nikon's?
Eric,
is Silverfast using the ICE technology for dust and scratch removal developed by Applied Science Ficton (ASF), or have you developed your own algorithm?
One of the reasons I got a Nikon scanner was for the superb dust and scratch removal that they offer with ASF ICE technology. I don't want to loose this using Silverfast
