HDR 6 won't load: "Not enough memory" error

Windows XP on Dell Inspiron 8100, 40 GB Hard Drive, Lots of RAM, Firewire connection to Polaroid Sprintscan 1220
SiverFast Ai and HDR, v 6 installed

Both plugins installed and worked fine at the outset, as did the stand alone. After a few days use, the HDR plugin no longer opens. Clicking on it brings up a File Location dialogue box. When I locate, enter, and open the plugin file folder, I get a "Not enough memory" message. Same thing occurs with the stand alone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success.

Searched the forums and FAQs, but no help there. Can't imagine this is a memory issue. SF Ai opens and works fine. Appreciate any thoughts about what might be the problem.

One other issue: In Ai there are three image types which cannot be selected: Landscape, Skin tones, and Technic, the first two constituting the majority of my images. When I click on any of these 3, they default to "Standard" instead. Is this related to the way some of the other options are configured in one of the Options Dialogue tabs? Can't seem to find the culprit.

Thanks,

Jim McFadden

BTW I moved all my digital images from my C drive to an external hard drive just to make sure my computer memory was not being stressed, but no resolution of the problem.

Did some digging and came up with answers to my own questions.

About SF HDR generating the "Not enough memory" error message:
From LaserSoft Support comes this reply:

"What the window should ask is 'Please find an image to open,' not 'Please locate the plug-in.' It is actually asking for a 48 bit image to open so you can post process the image. The memory dialog is accurate, because you are effectively trying to pick up the table you are standing on."

Support goes on to say that the misleading request for a plug-in is a programming error.

Regarding the Image Types that cannot be selected: Not a problem when an image is already opened in SF.
