Connecting to Epson Perfection V850 Pro on MacBook Pro 2016

I have a MacBook Pro 2016 using Mac OS version 10.12.2. I have installed Epson-provided software and drivers for the Epson Perfection V850 Pro. I can scan images using the Epson Scan utility. However, the SilverFast SE Plus 8 "has a problem starting the scanner" and shuts down. I thought that updating the software to the latest version might address the issue, but even there I have a problem. When I click the "next" button on the page where I enter my software serial number, the page just refreshes without advancing to the next step. Please advise. Thanks.

Dear user,

Please make sure you are using the latest update of SilverFast.
Some older versions are not compatible with mac OS 10.12.
