Adding a Scanner

Postby TechKen » Fri Sep 02, 2016 9:39 pm

I originally received and installed SilverFast SE with a PrimeFilm XE. The software was included with the PrimeFilm SE Scanner.
I just purchased an Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner and would like to use the SilverFast software with the Epson Scanner, but the SilverFast SE software does not recognize the Epson Scanner.
What will I need to do to be able to also use the Epson Scanner with SilverFast?

Thanks,
Ken

Dear Ken,

SilverFast is always individually tailored to each scanner. The EPSON V600 requires it's own module to be installed. You can purchase additional licenses at a reduced price through our online store.

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
I work in the IT dept of a public library and I was assigned the task of adding a new EPSON Professional V600 flatbed scanner to a computer station that has a Plustek Opticfilm 8100 film scanner operated with Silverfast SE Plus 8 ver 8.0.1.
My supervisor wants Silverfast to operate both scanners. The public user would just select one or the other Image Source options from the Welcome page to select the desired input scanner.
So from the above post it sounds like the Silverfast we received with the Plustek scanner will not do this and that this would only be possible if another module was purchased.
Why is there a drop down menu for the Image Source if you can only run one scanner? I am confused. I called Silverfast in Sarasota and was told to email issues to them.
Is there a single version of Silverfast that would run multiple scanners?

I have installed the drivers for the two scanners and updated them to the newest version. Unistalled Silverfast from the original install with the plustek scanner. Re-installed the Silverfast and now no scanners are recognized. I cannot get to the Serialization point.
Please help me with some clarification.
Larry P.

Dear Larry,

Yes that is correct, you need two SilverFast versions to be installed.
You need to make sure one time that the latest update from our website is installed for both of them. Outdated modules would be deactivated by a newer one. Afterwards the autoupdate in SilverFast will update both of them together.
The scanner is then selected through the pull-down menu that is right.

Kind regards,
Arne

Hello Arne,
Please recall, I have been tasked to install two scanners under one GUI of Silverfast. The original Silverfast SE Plus 8 came with OpticFilm 8100 film scanner.
We have purchased a module for the EPSON PerfectionV600 Photoscanner. I have the First and Last names and the Serial number for this install.
However the instructions I have received seem generic and only deal with one scanner, not multiples.
The first scanner is installed and operational with Silverfast.
We received an email from Kitten with a link to demo software for the EPSON.
Now how do I serialize the second module?
This seems so unclear.
thank you

Dear Larry,

You simply install both modules (both must be latest version).
In the welcome screen you will then be able to select which scanner to use in the image source field.
If no serial is present the software will automatically request it.

Kind regards,
Arne
