Multiexposure and negatives

Postby mxa75 » Wed Feb 17, 2016 3:48 pm

Hi!

I was not able to find any information re: the effectiveness of multi exposure when scanning negatives (I go through a 64bit HRDi archival step). Considering the dense orange mask, does ME really help when scanning negatives? Or maybe it is even more important to use it than with positives? Some comment from those in the know would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Cheers

Marco

Dear Marco,

Multi-Exposure can be used with both positives and negatives.
In both cases it enhances the data gained in dark areas.
With negatives this of cause means that after conversion this effects the highlights/bright areas.
A visual effect often can be seen better in slides/positive film. But it enhances the dynamic range for both film types.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
