Unknown error

I am using Silverfast 8.2.0r3 under a virtual 32-bit Windows XP.
I am continually experiencing the following problem:
I prescan a frame in Kodachrome mode; adjust the borders for the maximum usable area and scan.

On completing the 2nd pass, the whole process stops, returning 'Unknown error'.

The only way past this is to reduce the frame borders but this is completely naff.
I have to do this frame after frame which makes the whole process utterly laborious.

Is there a practical solution?

Dear customer,

I strongly recommend switching to a more modern operating system.
Windows XP is discontinued and no longer supported.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thank you for your advice but after removing a few unwanted startup items in XP, it all worked properly.
Anyway, I only use XP for things that will not run under Linux.

You really should consider upgrading the OS.
Even if you only use it as a secondary system it still is extremely outdated.

In a Linux system this would mean you still would use Kernel 2.0 instead of the current 4.0.4.
As a Linux user this should send shivers down your spine. ;-)

Kind regards,

Thanks but I don't understand the logic.
My XP is a virtual machine running above VMware itself running on an up-to-date Linux.
Never mind. I am currently cleaning up the images using gimp. Remarkable results.
