New HDRi-RAW format in Silverfast 8.5

I have been using Silverfast SE 8.0 and prefer to scan BW negatives to the '16 bit HDR' format. This gives me a flat (no layers) tif file that I can use as input to Photoshop for further processing. The 16 bit depth of the image file is very important in my work.

Before I upgrade to Silverfast 8.5 I would appreciate replies to a couple of questions:

1. Will '16 bit HDR' still be available as an option for the output of BW negatives?

2. What is the format of the new HDRi-RAW output in 8.5? Your website says that it is a tif file. Is this a multi-layer tif file, with one of the layers being the 16 bit negative scan (i.e. with one of the layers being exactly the same as the original '16 bit HDR' format in 8.0)?

If I cannot easily create BW 16 bit tif files in 8.5, then I obviously will not upgrade.

Many thanks,

Kirk

Dear Kirk,

16 Bit HDR is also available in SilverFast 8.5.
The HDR-RAW format adds additional metadata to the format.
If necessary you can deactivate the HDRi-RAW functionality in the preferences' general tab.

Kind regards,
