SprintScan Ultra45 and SF6 crash Photoshop7!!!

When I attempt to scan a 4x5 sheet of film using 48bit color the program and computer crash within seconds!
Scanning at 42bit works fine. I am also unable to use SF_App as a stand alone program. I get the message that my scanner is not being recognized. I have run Norton Utilities- no problems found. I have uninstalled both programs and reinstalled without any success. Tech support has been a complete let down. Any suggestions?
I use MacG4 dual 1G's with 1.5ram. This never happened using Silverfast5.

How much of the available 1.5ram is assigned to Photoshop?
We did a testscan with 1000dpi 4x5 scan in 48bit mode approx 80Mb file size. With SilverFast 6.0.1r11.
The data was transferred into Photoshop 6 (Mac OS9.2) without problems.
How big is your file in mega byte?

Thanks for the reply. I am giving photoshop 1.2G's of ram. At 1000 DPI the program works fine on my system as well. Try scanning at optical 2571 using a 4x5 negative using 48bit color. This is where SF6 hangs and crashes. My previous version of SF5 worked fine with these settings...

Dear Photos,
I just plugged this scanner to my Mac G3 (blue/white) with system 9.2 and PS6.
I scanned several runs with 48bitHDR at full resolution as well as 48bitColor at full 2571dpi resolution (file size approx 600dpi).
I set SilverFast scan mode to "Normal(file)", which writes the data directly into a file on the HDD.
Everything worked o.k.!! had no crashes whatsoever.
4500 was the only SCSI device, connected to Adaptec 2906 card.

This would indicate that the program should work with the SprintScan Ultra45. This scanner is the only device connected to my SCCSI card as well. It is also terminated. I have uninstalled both Photoshop and SF6 and reinstalled to no avail. I have now attempted to use the scanner on my PC (2G's with 768 ram- 100% allocated within Photoshop) Windows XP. After opening the plugin from photoshop as well as the standalone program, I am alerted that my scanner can not be found! This is the same message that I received when I tried to open SF6 as a stand alone using my Mac! My standard PolaColor 5.5 software works without any problems on both machines! Could this be a faulty copy of SF6? As I have mentioned SF5 works flawlessly on my Mac.
Thank you for your continued support,
Steve

O.k. Photos,
now you have a different problem (configuration). You initial problem was a crash when scanning huge files.
This problem can be solved through SCSI configuration checks.
Please go to our FAQ site.
By the way, did you try SilverFast 5.5 on your Windows machine?
if yes, any problems when scanning huge files like your 700Mb file?
If yes, any such problems when scanning same 700Mb file with PolaColor?

I have never loaded SF5 on my windows machine. I scanned roughly 20 4x5 negatives using PolaColor 5.5 on the windows machine. Each file at 48bit, came through @ 650 megs. Absolutely no problems. I will try to send along the SF6 log files.
In regard to the Mac, how is this a SCSI issue when, Polacolor and SF5 work flawlessly? After problem solving for a week, I'm inclined to think otherwise.
Best, Steve
