silverfast 6 and Mac OS 10.2

I downloaded and paid for an upgrade to Silverrfast 6. When I tried to run it on Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar) the software did not recognize my scanner (Nilkon Coolscan 4000). After much frustration I called SF support and was told that SF 6 does not run on the latest version of OS X. Support could not tell me when an update might be available nor would they notify me when it was, but asked me to check the website. Now I'm trying to find information on the SF website but I don't know where to look for it. Result: I bought a new product which I can't use and I can't find out when this will be possible and where to find out if it happens. In the meantime I have to restart with OS 9.2 every time I need to scan and use my old Silverfast version. Very frustrating!

Thomas,
I downloaded a new version of SFAI 6 on Sep 13th that is working on a TiPowerbook with Jaguar and a Nikon Supercoolscan 4000ED. Raw scans adjusted in HDR as well as preadjusted scans work fine but I've yet to get a succesful batch scan (scanner not recognized with Nikon SF 200 slide feeder in place). Check downloads for the latest upgrade.

Dear Thomas,
SilverFast works now with the
Nikon Coolscan 4000 scanner on Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar.
You just need to restart your computer after the installation has been completed.
To sum up, the following
Nikon scanners are supported on Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar:
LS 4000ED / Super Coolscan 4000ED
LS 40ED / Coolscan IV ED
Super Coolscan 8000ED

NOT working on my system!

I have downloaded SF Ai v6.0.1r12 for the Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 and it is not working on my dual 533 G4 running Mac OSX 10.2. Same problem as before-it can't see the scanner. It is my understanding that Silverfast requires the Nikon M driver to work, and the latest driver from Nikon (3.1.3) does not work with MacOSX 10.2. Does Silverfast still require the Nikon driver? (v**s**n does work with the Super Coolscan 4000 on my system. )

If you have the latest version of the SilverFast installer for one of the
Nikon scanners listed above (posted on friday the 13th of october) and your computer is running on Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar, you do not need the
Nikon driver (3.1.3).
Please remove the folder Library/Application Support/Nikon and install SilverFast. Restart your computer. You should then be able to enjoy SilverFast !!
At the moment, the potential of dual processors on Mac is not utilized. So this cannot be a reason for the fact that the scanner is not detected.
Regards.

If you are able to have Silverfast run these Nikon scanners in OSX without the Nikon drivers, why not the LS-2000 as well? My 6.0.1r12 tries to start in OS X, but quits when it can't see the scanner.
Right now, the only reason I have for starting my Mac in OS 9 is to use this scanner with Silverfast.
Thanks.

Peter.
This is a misunderstanding. The
Nikon drivers v3.1.3 are not needed, because the SilverFast installer installs the
Nikon SDK itself. This SDK is still needed and this is also the reason, why your LS2000 is not working under OSX.

I spoke with one of the Silverfast marketing people in Florida a while back, who said Lasersoft was working to get the LS-2000, and a lot of other scanners left behind by their manufactuers, to run in OS X. Is this still happening? And if so, when is the OS X version expected to appear?
Thanks

Thomas,
Thanks for the info. I removed the Nikon driver per your post, reinstalled Silverfast 6 (Nikon M) r12, restarted and its now working! (Mac OSX 10.2, dual 533 G4).
