Not sure it's a good idea, and certainly it's not neccessary, to install SF separately for each version of PS. On my box, a PC, I have a single copy of SF installed as a PS v5.0.2 plug-in; when Photoshop versions 6 and 7 came, I only set Additional Plug-Ins Directory path (in Edit>Preferences>Plug-Ins & Scratch Disks dialog box) to Adobe\Photoshop 5.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export; thus, a single SF is available in all three versions of PS and works without a glitch.

I don't think having Silverfast installed in more than one copy of Photoshop is an issue on a Mac. I am running an older G4 with both Photoshop 6 and 7, both of which have Silverfast 6 installed for a Nikon scanner, SF 5.5 for an Epson and HDR, and I have no problems.

(The SF 6 in PS 7 is calibrated for E-6 and the one in PS 6 is calibrated for Kodachrome.)
