Can I use VLC instead of Quicktime in Windows 8

Can AI be changed to use VLC Movie player instead of Quicktime? I can't get Quicktime to work in Windows 8.
Dear customer,
SilverFast uses the standard player for displaying the .mov files.
If you set VLC to be the standard player for .mov files Windows will use it to open them.
Basically starting the movies from SilverFast is not different from starting the same file from the file explorer.
