New license needed if I replace scanner?

Someone posted the question if they can use one SilverFast license for two scanners, and the answer given was no, each scanner needs a separate license.

My question is a little different: If I buy SilverFast 8 now (I am currently trying the demo version) and later decide to replace my current scanner with a new more powerful one, do I need to buy a new SilverFast license to go with the new scanner? At any given time, I will own only one scanner.

Dear Nasenbein :-)

yes, you need for each scanner a SilverFast licence.
When you own a licence, you will get the second one with a discount by making a "crossgrade".
The first version is still valid, so you can sell it with the scanner.

Thanks for the quick reply! When I installed the Silverfast demo, it said my current scanner (Epson Perfection 330) doesn't support two important features (I think one of them was iSRD), so I guess it doesn't make sense to buy a Silverfast license as long as I have this scanner. Unfortunately, a new scanner AND new software don't fit my budget right now. :-)

You are right.
the V330 does not include an infrared channel and therefor we can not offer iSRD for this device.

However there are several scanners on the market which are bundled with SilverFast.
Also several resellers offer custom SilverFast bundles.
That might be a good way of obtaining SilverFast and a scanner at the same time.
