Help - Silverfast 8 negative scanning problem

I'm having a problem with the demo version of Silverfast 8 where the option to scan negatives is locked for some reason?

When I select 'positive', on the drop down list 'negative' is grayed out.

I was aware of the watermarking with the demo version but not that it restricted scanning of negatives?

any help would be much appreciated.

Dear Dan,

I think you have a flatbed scanner and you are in the reflective mode.
When you want to activate the negative mode you must switch to "transparency mode".
