When I use Silverfast 6.0 in OS X I get nasty black stripes over my scans. The same SF in the same Photoshop 7.0 but then in OS 9.2 gives fine results without stripes.
I use the latest version of SF, dowloaded today (1st may 2003).
Please, can Lasersoft repair this problem???
At the other side, on the level of sharpness I get better results in OSX (latest version 10.2.5). The scans are sharper! You can also better see the stitching of the pixels, where in OS 9 you see a vage blurr. My question is: how is it possible that after all these years Powerlook 3000 becomes sharper?
greetings, Ton

stripes only in transparant mode
I want to add the following. I only find the stripes in the transparant mode.
What maybe interesting is that i just tried for fun v**s**n software in OS X (not really useful stuff by the way) and found the same stripes. has it to do with the scsi connecting or something?
Ton.

Dear Ton,
first of all you should make sure the stripes are NEITHER on the original NOR on the scan glass.
If this is a fact, you may try a transparency positive.
Will it show stripes?
if yes, do another test run under OS9 or some other system with the Umax Magic Scan software. If the stripes show there as well, your scanner may have a hardware fault!!!! (I hope not).
If the lines don't show with a positive transparency, do this:
do a test scan (neg) with SilverFast on OS9 - stripes?
yes => go back to top of this message
no => update your SilverFast and run it again under OSX - stripes?
contact LaserSoft Imaging support with the current details.

lines in transparancy scans
hi,
i am using the umax powerlook 3000 scanner. upon upgrading from os9 to osx 3.3 (panther) we bought the silverfast driver. everything works fine with prints, but when scanning transparancies, a line appears a little more than half way across the image. this occurs with both positive and negative transparancies. the glass on the scanner has been checked as well as the transparancies, and they are fine.
i saw you mentioned that this topic has been covered already..can you send me a link to the page, please? or if you have more info please let me know.
thanks,
barbara
