We are currently checking whether this is a Windows ME or a general Problem. Expect some news or fix shortly.
Also with NegaFix IT8 calibration should always be off!

NegaFix and IT8 conflict fixed

The conflict that occured in version 5.5.0 when NegaFix was selected with IT8 calibration on has been fixed.
SilverFast 5.5.0r03 will automatically disable IT8 when NegaFix is selected!

negafix and general problems
What about the values in the histograms, that only went from 0 to about 150 with my Powerlook 3000(WinMe)?
Quoted froma message by the President:
With Photoshop 6
Recommended SilverFast Ai CMS set-up
With or without IT8-Calibration you should have the following settings:
Color Mangement
Scanner -> Internal: None, ColorSync or Calibration
Internal -> Monitor: Automatic
Internal -> Output: RGB or P&P CMYK
Profiles for ColorSync / ICM
Scanner (R+T): your profile if CS or ICM
Internal: Adobe RGB or other (synchronize with Photoshop RGB set-up)
Output/Printer: RGB or profile
Rendering Intend: Perceptional
By I Lyons:
I indicated in an earlier post that upon recipt of revised settings I would incorporate them into the tutorial. The NegaFix tutorial has now been amended to include the above settings.
One observation though. If using SilverFast Ai 5.5r03 I would NOT allow the "scanner" profile to be embedded in the image, ONLY your working space as noted above.
In effect I'm saying :
Scanner -> Internal: ColorSync/ICM or Calibration
Note the omission of "None" from the quote by the President. If None is selcted and the scanner profile has also been selected their "may" be a problem with colour balance.

Ian, I'm a bit confused.
Your NegaFix tutorial says to set "Scanner->Internal" to "Calibration" for those of us who have done an IT8 calibration, otherwise set it to "ColorSync/ICM" if no IT8 calibration was done.
In describing the settings for "Scanner (Transparent)" in your tutorial, you said to use "None" for those who have done an IT8 calibration and to use the scanner profile (such as "SF_T(Polaroid SS120)")if no IT8 calibration was done.
I'm able to set up the SilverFast CMS tab exactly as shown in your NegaFix tutorial except that I cannot get the "Profile to embed" box to read "Adobe RGB (1998)." Mine reads "None." I've done an IT8 calibration and have set the other fields accordingly to match your example. Why doesn't my "Profile to embed" field look like yours? I'm using a PC if that makes any difference.
I normally do a "48-bit HDR Color" scan with Ai to create a raw file and then use HDR on the file. Should I use your NegaFix tutorial settings for the CMS tab in both Ai and HDR?
By the way, where's revision 5.5r03? It doesn't appear to be ready for download yet.

Yes!

Once you chose to export the image as 48bit HDR color Ai will embed whatever profile is selected in the scanner profile field - in your case it is None.

If you are scanning for HDR also set Scanner Internal to read "None". It is "my" view that when scanning negatives for use with NegaFix (HDR) you don't want the image to contain profiles of any kind - afterall the profile was created for Ektachrome or Agfachrome or Perfectchrome, etc. It may be that when HDR is configured for NegaFix that it will ignore the embedded profile in which case "my" view is mute.
(BTW my sarcasm <film types> is not directed at you, but at others who seem to have a much superior understanding of the scanner and softwares level of inteligence than LaserSoft, Nikon, Polaroid, et al have. ).
Now I'm not sarcastic and so back to your post.

The only version "curently" available for download is 5.5r03.
