I have a new v800 scanner and try to learn the best set to scan my slides with Silverfast 8.8
I tested the same slide: made prescan with 48-24 bit, 54x37 cm, and then scan 4 times JPEG (2400-3200 ppi) TIFF (2400-3200 ppi)
Enlarging part of picture (300%) there is not visible differences between photos (from 4Mega JPEG and 41Mega TIFF).
Have I made mistakes on set scanning ?

Re: TIFF-JPEG Resolution
Dear user,
Tiff and JPG at the same resolution should basically contain the same details. Because it is compressed JPG can show compression artifacts.
Tiff is better suited if the image is going to be processed in another imaging software.
Kind regards
Arne

Re: TIFF-JPEG Resolution
The problem is clear now. I will use TIFF. As I need scannarize thousands of slides mainly to archive, please, can you suggest the correct TIFF setting? (to avoid excessively long scannarization time)?
Silverfast SE8 guide says at page 11: "if you select Archive as the destination format the image data is archived unchanged".
My purpose is to archive but I would like to be able to use the adjustement (Silverfast AutoAdjust, Gradation, Gane, iSRD and so on)
May I select "Edit" instead of "Archive" ?
Regards, Ed

Re: TIFF-JPEG Resolution
Dear Ed,
The HDR(i) RAW archive formats are meant to be used with our Archive Suite workflow. They are processed in our SilverFast HDR Studio software.
For normal processing, you need to use a regular output format.
Kind regards
Arne

Re: TIFF-JPEG Resolution
Thank you for your reply.
I apologise for another post related to the possibility of cumulative correction, as I have meanwhile done more
tests with Silverfast 8.8 this problem is solved.
I've also tried other commercial software but Silverfast is definitely winning it does exactly what I need.
After learning how to use SE8, scan is easy.
Thanks a lot.
