images are always too dark
Every slide and neg I scan comes out much too dark. They always come out right when I use Canon's own software, but I want to use Silverfast because it saves images in HDRI format. I cannot find anything in Silverfast that brightens the image. Is there something that turns up the gain of the scanner, or something?

Dear customer,
SilverFast's HDR(i) format is a raw image format intended for our archive suite workflow.
These images should only be used if you want to process them in SilverFast HDR.
for normal scans please use the 48 -> 24 mode.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

The images are still too dark, regardless of the format in which they are saved

Dear customer,
make sure the highlights and shadows are set correctly.
Either use the image auto adjust or set them manually.
Also please check that in the options' auto tab the correct gamma for your system is selected.
For all current systems this should be 2.2.
For older Apple systems this could be 1.8.
You can also adjust the brightness in the gradation window.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: images are always too dark
Hi
I'm having the same problems. I thought it was due to 110 negs (in a dedicated 110 neg holder) but I've seen online that other people have scanned 110s in Plustek with no problems; the Histogram, Graduation & Auto don't seem to help; nothing will lighten the image. There must be a simple step I'm missing, but not sure what to try next..?!
