Re: Kodachrome Slides: Improving Results

Have a search over on Luminous Landscape forums for how to deal with this issue. There is a detailed technical discussion and some good reference info.

Re: Multiple Sample & Image Softness

If i remember correctly, the V750 holders have adjustments to move the elevation above the glass slightly in case focus is not dead on. A web search will turn up info on how to do the adjustment. Here is one - http://photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00HuCs Also, consider a different holder as mentio...

Re: Kodachrome IT-8 reference target

"The Prescan looked very blurry, terrible."

This not an issue that IT8 calibration will address. It sounds like the focus was off or the film is not flat or both.

Re: Rotating Pre-Scan's, Settings & Scratch & Dust Removal h

Is it possible to use SRD on a HDR+i file ?

What happens when you convert the file to 48bit color ?

Re: Rotating Pre-Scan's, Settings & Scratch & Dust Removal h

Let me make a suggestion - go ahead and "screw up". It's ok. Scanning is not like taking your negs to the corner photo shop and having prints made. i have been doing this for 15 years and i still find ways to make the scan better. That is why i suggested making a master scan - HDR in this ...

Re: anti-Newton Ring glass & HDRi

i suspect it is a different issue.

Talk with the folks at FocalPoint glass about your issue. They have a lot of experience. i had no issues with my Nikon CS

Re: Rotating Pre-Scan's, Settings & Scratch & Dust Removal h

Since that scanner can only resolve about 3200 ppi through its optical path, you may be better off reducing to 3600 ppi for scans and then up res or down as needed in PS. Jeff Schewe discussed at Digital Pro Photo a method that allows up to 2x enlargement with PS bicubic. If you stay at 7200, it wil...

Re: Is this amount of grain and noise normal?!

At 2400 PPI, i doubt you are seeing the dye clouds. i am seeing some chroma noise, that may or may not be helped by multisampling. That scanner may have an optical resolving capability of around 3200 ppi from what i read. some examples here: http://www.imaging-resource.com/SCAN/PLTK7600/7600.HTM but...

Re: Which side of slide should be face up ?

when you hold it at an angle to the light, the emulsion side will look like there is an engraving or pattern. The other side will have no patterns and be glossy. Usually the scanner manual indicates correct orientation - if you lost yours in the crash, check online.

Re: Profile Editor in SilverFast v6.6.2r3

The default user accounts that Win7 creates do not have full admin privileges to prevent harmful programs from running and damaging your system. Some software still expects the user to have full privileges and can fail when the user does not. If you get a popup window asking if you want the allow th...

Re: Hardware and focus errors

Dear Herr Ketelhohn,, Does that mean that the Win7 / 64 bit version is using LSI's replacement libraries (instead of Nikon MAID) or has LSI enclosed the Nikon Maid modules in a software "wrapper" and ? The reason i ask is there was some thought in the past about moving away from ICE and th...

Re: Multiple Copies on one Mac

Just curious, why bother with the CS5000 if you have the CS9000 ?
The 9000 is a better scanner, even for 35mm.
