Dear Hans. All scanners are different. Every scanner sees the colors on the flatbed (or slide / film) in its own way. After to scan, you will see a more or less difference in the colors between the original and the scanned image. To asure that the colors on the original image is reproduced as exact...

Dear cowgum 8) To get a 48 bit scan is very easy. Choose under " Image Mode " >> 48 Bit HDR and you will get a original 48 BIT HDR scan. If you choose >> 48 Bit colour, you will also get a 48 Bit scan, but choose this in the case, that you have a negatife filmstrip and you like to recieve a 48 bit ...

Re: DCPro-VLT

DCPro-VLT Availability DC-Pro-VLT will be available in about 3-4 weeks! Hello I need to scan 5,000 existing negatives for archive/digital conversion and have a Nikon LS4000 ED. 1) Am I correct that DCPro will support Nikon's NEF high resolution 48 bit rate raw data format for its LS4000 ED s...

. But with a scanner like Nikon's 4000ED, why restrict yourself to negs; try some slide film . ...because I have 5,000 negetives :-) As far as negitives go, in following both Ian's Tutorials and SF manuals, is appears that the best way to preserve maximum negetive data/resolution is to do high bitr...

Point well taken! In reading the SF manuals and Ian's tutorials, I sounds like the IT-8 calibration does not work for negeitves. Do you know if doing "raw" high bit rate scans for post scan processing in SF HDR how/if calibration can be incorporated? I find that the resulting raw scan is also a negi...

Thanks again

Do you agree with most comments I have heard about the Nikon 4000 ED hardware ICD that is excellent, and therefore when using SF, one should select the hardware ICE selection as a preferred user default setting?

Thanks!

And does this enable hardware based dICE from the Nikon Scanner itself(which is reported to be very good), or is this a sortware type of dICE which SF is running?

Are you saying one should scan as color film, when doing B&W scans?

Thanks

How does one use digital ICE for a 4000 ED when using SilverFast?

Thanks

IT8 calibration...is it worth it?

For someone scanning several thousand high resolution/bitrate negitives on a Nikon 4000ED of family photos for archiving and lifetime future digital use, is it worth the cost of admission to buy the IT8 calibration?

Thanks

Am I correct that the demo of AI and HDR are fully functioning versions, except that they add a watermark to the scan? If so, can one scan/process (getting the watermark) and then buy a registered copy to subsequently remove the watermark? Or does the watermark remain on any scanns/processed images ...

This is the link to AI, not HDR, I believe. I am looking for a trial DL for HDL. Do you know if there is one, or am I missing something, and it is included in the AI download?

Thanks again.
