I spent a while checking out the problems this weekend and came up with some fairly consistent findings. Firstly, it's clear that the program is very unstable, probably due to a bad and unpredictable reaction to specific features in each negative. ...snip... 1) If the scan comes up blue in the prev...

Yes, I hope they fix it too although this appears to be a very capricious problem. This is the behaviour I've been seeing with Cyberview and Filmscan 35, and it's why I ditched Cyberview for Silverfast. Please say they haven't broken it :( Does reinstalling r10 get it back working? The updated DLL ...

Martin: I didn't entirely understand the advice either, but was told to reinstall the Cyberview driver to cure problems in Silverfast. It didn't help, but I tried it anyway (desperation). From support :- "What version of CyberView is installed in your Win98? If it is not the latest one it might have...

If you care to take a quick look in the Microtek Film Scanners area, I posted a message on exactly this subject, but for the Microtek Filmscan 35 (the same hardware, rebadged). So far support have said it is related to the Cyberview driver DLLs (which Silverfast depends on in some way). Although rei...

The banding problem above is shown in these examples -- they are the same negative, scanned 3 times in succession with exactly the same settings, in Silverfast. It seems that colour casts change from scan to scan, especially if the scan is dark. The banding varies from frame to frame, as can be seen...

Seconded: This sometimes happens on my Microtek Filmscan 35 (PIE1800/Heidelberg rebadged), and I usually have to rescan a few times to clear it.

Please Mike, or Martin, make this available on an "at your own risk" basis, so we can try it out!

Microtek FilmScan 35 Noise and Banding issues

I've recently acquired a Microtek Filmscan 35, bundled with Cyberview. The host application is GIMP in all of the following description, with Silverfast SE6.0.1.r10, under W98 SE Having quickly found out that Cyberview is apparently incapable of reliably producing a scan that matches its own preview...
