I know that you have special technologies to get 'real time' feedback and indeed its not too bad on my 1.7Ghz P4 (2Gb RAM). However the window updates leave a lot to be desired. It seems that you are doing some very weird kind of window placement. Maybe you arent buffering the windows or something. ...

We are scanning in move film stock (which we are using in a stills camera and getting processed in the same bath as the movie stock) and need a neg profile. Its Kodak 5245 movie stock. We havent purchased silverfast yet but are looking into it. If we have non standard stock such as this can we send ...

Thats what I thought. Seems like a very poor piece of design to me. Nikon seem singularly unhelpful in supporting their equipment.

so what if any is the advantage of using silverfast over the standard nikon software, especially given that I only want as faithful reproduction of the neg as possible, with minimal if any colour correction.

trying to install the demo of silverfast for the nikon4000 The nikon software works fine however the TWAIN plugin os silverfast does not. When selecting it as a twain software it brings up the silverfast splash screen and searches for devices but it cannot find the nikon scanner... it just says no d...

Has anyone used this with the 4000?? We have one which can take up to a 36 picture film roll. However there are two main problems.. there is nothing to catch the film as it cames out the front of the scanner, one would expect some kind of spool at the front as well as the back. Also we find that the...

I am also trying to get my head around colour profiling. Since most scanning is done for print the colour profiling system seems geared towards this. However I am wanting to output back to film which has a much wider gamut than print, in fact the same as the source material. How does colour profilin...

I will do that. Out of interest though do you know if the standard Nikon software does that. It seems to only scan at 14bit for a start, is this a limitation of the scanner or software. If its the scanner is it that silverfast scans at 14bit expands it to 16bit so that any further processing occurs ...

We have a supercool scan 4000 and use it to scan stills for use in feature film. We need images that are logarithmic as opposed to the more usual linear output of scanners and digital cameras. We need to be able to apply a colour correction curve to achieve this. At present with the standard nikon s...
