Dear seawolf,

you can try one thing:
remove the file aspi32.sys (or e.g. move it to the Desktop) from the folder \windows\system32 and try to start SilverFast again (maybe a reboot is needed).
Is SilverFast able to find your scanner now?

Dear Trevor,

thank you very much for your hard work to inspect this problem.
We will contact Nikon and will hopefully be able to include this special ICE mode in one of the next releases.

Dear Diddle, you are right: the black border in the infrared channel you did observe is considered to be a defect. Please ensure, that the frame you are scanning is small enough to not include the black border (part of your slide frame). You can use the two popups "Landscape" and "Portrait" in the G...

The version for the ScanJet 8200/8250 is the right one to try for the ScanJet 7650. We do not support the 7650 officially, though, as it is not tested by us yet. Therefore you currently cannot buy and serialize the version for the 7650. Nevertheless we are interested in your findings: does the versi...

Dear Kenneth,

do you compare scan times when doing Descreening? The Descreening has changed in the meantime and yes, it's slower than before, but the resulting quality is much better.

Dear Manuel, do you have a "LS4000.md3" file inside your system32 folder? This file is needed to drive the scanner and should be there after a successful SilverFast installation. Another thing: If NikonScan is not working, it's unlikely, that SilverFast will work, as we are using the same library to...

Why don't you try the demo version you can download at http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/demo/en.html?

Dear Gregory,

the fix I've done recently was specifically for the LS8000/9000, so there won't be any change for the LS4000.
Which problems do you have exactly with the film strip offset tool?

Dear Jan, it's quite likely that SilverFast does perform the grayscale scan in fact as a RGB scan, which can significantly increase scan times. To ensure, that SilverFast will perform a grayscale scan indeed as a real grayscale scan, go to Options->Special->ColorFilter and ensure, that something dif...

The Epson Perfection 4490 is (unofficially) already support by SilverFast. The version you can currently download (642r5c) should work with this scanner, so you can try it out on your own. Please note however, that the ICE function is currently not supported for this scanner.

Dear Beat,

due to licensing problems we will not support ICE with the DigitDia 4000.
We are working however on further improvements on our iSRD solution. You shouldn't miss ICE.

You should get different scan results when you see/make changes in the Negafix histogram(s) found in the Expansion panel of the Expert part of the Negafix dialog.
