D80 raw images purple
The Nikon D80 is not yet supported with an optimized raw workflow. Does this explain why the initial conversion process in VLT of NEF images results in all images having a severe purple tint? The initial thumbnails all look normal, presumably because the thumbnail is an embedded JPG. As an Apple Ape...

Ah, It is my understanding the TWAIN driver comes from the hardware manufacturer and not LaserSoft. Back in OS9 era Silverfast was a TWAIN/Photoshop plugin. OSX had no stable TWAIN standard until fairly recently. In spite of that fact Epson stepped up and went the TWAIN route anyway. I assume this ...

Why Microtek?
Well, Short of that I'd say put the screws to Microtek! They probably are trying to recover expenses before paying any royalties to Apple computer for being able to make their product compatible for all I know. Band together and beat down their (Microtek's) doors!!! I am a bit baffled why yo...

MS Free
mntbighker, I know this might sound silly, but you could purchase an inexpensive PC to use as a scan workstation if you really like and want to use you i900. (Best of both worlds) :) That would be a perfectly acceptable solution if SANE supported the i900 and had the required tools available. My ho...

Quandry
A couple of hours here and on Google and I am faced with a dilemma. I just purchased a Microtek i900 which has a very nice glassless film scan tray and bundles SF AI6. The problem is that Microotek barely seems to acknowledge the Mac exists and who knows if they will ever offer TWAIN support. Epson ...

Dear Rolf from my experience Acrobat 6 cannot be used with SilverFast. It all worked perfectly with Acrobat 4 and 5, but Adobe seems to have changed it's scanner API for the revision 6 of Acrobat. I suggest scan to file from SilverFast and import these scans into Acrobat as a workaround. Has this c...

What does "near" mean?
jpc1 wrote:Thanks for the reply. I would have expected some sort of reply to my trouble report, but have not received any.
9 months later and apparently "near" future is defined differently on their planet. Still no ICE support for i900. Did Lasersoft ever even respond to your support request?

Re: IT8 calibration quirk- why?
Yes, the gamma settings are the same in all the programs and in the Mac's system profile (under calibration). I've also made sure that I'm using the same colour space and rendering intent everyehere. I have now also re-downloaded the IT8 data for my test target from Kodak. Nothing has changed. I ju...

OSX TWAIN
Can someone either here or offline explain to me why Epson appear to be the only people supporting TWAIN on OSX? In this article on Oreilly MacDevCenter http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/08/26/osx_scanners.html Silverfast is described as a TWAIN plugin. It claims that Microtek announced TWA...
