Re: Looking into Scanning 110 negative strips, again.

Rag,

Did you use Epson Scan or SilverFast?

Where did you position the strip on the glass, I.e. normal top/right corner or elsewhere?

Looking into Scanning 110 negative strips, again.

I would like to take another crack at scanning some 110 negs and am wondering if anyone has some hints. I last tried some 3+ years ago so I thought I'd check to see if there are some fresh hints available. At my disposal I have a Nikon LS4000ED film scanner with current SF IT8 Studio license. I also...

Gregory, Thank you. Lots of good info indeed. At the moment I'm doing single scans and I might stick with that as I only have about a thousand to do. The filmstrip adapter has worked pretty well for me for Negs. Slow, but it works. I'm hoping to do the Negs after I have the Slides done and then spen...

Thanks Rag. I found the tutorial and scanned some samples to HDR and then did some playing with HDR Eval. I didn't get to perfect scans yet but think I'm on the right track so i'll be ordering HDR Studio soon, I think. I'll have to do some tests using Nikon Scan/HDR combo in case that turns out bett...

Archiving slides & negs

Much water under the bridge since I scanned my last image and getting really frustrated by my lack of time to enjoy some image time. What I would like is to do is get my images to digital so that when I have a little time now and then I can "play", plus the fact that once digital I feel th...

RAG,

Is there a problem with laying the 110 strip right onto the glass of the scanner? Aside from being able to keep it straight :-)

Which model holder did you get and were?

Can AI Studio and SE co-exist on OS X?

I have AI Studio 6 for my Nikon Coolscan 4000 and am buying an Epson 4990 to do my 110 format on. It comes with SF6 SE. I'll be upgrading my AI Studio but want to "play" with the Epson first to make sure it'll be a keeper. Can I just install SE or do I need to move/rename my current SF AI folder fir...

Need help scanning 110 format negs

I have a Coolscan 4000/ED and it works great for 35mm format. I have some 110 format negatives, some are just the 110 format strip, others had a paper strip added by the processor (back in the 70's). I can't put them in a 35mm carrier as I originally thought as too much is covered by the carrier edg...

Problems installing update SFE-6.4.3r6b for Ai Studio

Q re Kodak transparency numbering scheme

I'm trying to get some of my slides back into original sequence or at least together by roll. I'm removing them from the slide-tray, which was sorted for viewing pleasure. I see a V and a number after the month-year and am wondering if it was their convention that if you brought more than one roll i...

Nikon Coolscan. I have some negs that have a piece added to make them 35mm. That's the way they came back. However, lots that are just 110 so it'll be a problem to figure out yet. For some 110 transparencies I had 35mm adapter that they snap into. Sure which I would've never take any 110's though :-)

Thought I'd post a little update :-) Have scanned a few hundred Kodachrome & Ektachrome by now. Don't really know why I'm doing what yet but the results are acceptable and if nothing else I'll have a "contact sheet" in iPhoto to find specific slides to scan again. I decided to scan at 300dpi to ...

Thank you soooo much for hanging in :-) Filesize difference I have no problem with. If specs change, something has to give. But what about 2 different approaches? I did two scans, one at 300 and the other at 4000 dpi. Please take a look at the settings at: http://homepage.mac.com/heinz/2005/page7/pa...

Back to the books it seems :-) What I'm trying to wrap my brain around is to get a full/native image for the Cinema display (2560x1600) and with the same scan use the resulting image to print snap-shot size and to use the image in slideshows that are destined to be displayed on a TV screen. Max prin...
