When was IT-8 marquee changed?

The IT-8 Kodak Ektachrome calibration marquee used to encompass (See SF manual 1/00) only gray scale patches Nos. 1--22, with unmarked No. 0 (white) and No. 23 (black) excluded, as well as all color patches. For some time now, and without warning to old hands, the marquee must include the previously...

Why there is no 8x multisampling in SF Ai v6 for Nikon Coolscan LS30? Only 2x, 4x and 16x.

Most of the time Digital ICE does a decent cleanup job with my Kodachromes 25 and 64, but sometimes fails miserably, in particular with old Kodachrome II (it may riddle the scan with bullet holes). More serious problem is that K'chrome scans exhibit a pronounced and difficult to correct blue cast .

SilverFast Serial Number, and IT-8 (a.k.a. "Zweite") Serial Number, are two different numbers, with admittedly quite confusing names. Ask LaserSoft Support which of the numbers you have activates IT-8.

Silverfast vs Photoshop "Tweak Ratio"

Both Silverfast and Photoshop offer a huge set of image adjustment/editing tools. In May 2004 issue of Popular Photography & Imaging, the magazine's resident digital guru suggests it's best to do most of the job in Photoshop. This seems to me an exageration. However, I also think it is a legitim...

Above, LSI_Rossee wrote: "targets older than 2 years are not appropriate for calibration".

Hmm, sounds reasonable but never gave it a thought. Does this mean that my four years old, and pricey, Ektachrome target has long since expired despite being carefully archived?

For SF v6 download I only received a new user name and a new password, as did other users of v5.x; it was said, and it turned out to be true, that the downloaded file would upgrade the existing v5.x without asking for a S.N. So, if v5.x's S.N. is O.K. for a v6.1.x update, as it used to be untill tod...

New Downloads Policy

As of today, in order to download the latest SF v6.* update, I need (1) SF's Serial Number, (2) User Name and (3) Password. O.K., since I downloaded my SF v6 and got no S.N., I try to get the update by filling in (2) and (3) only, as before; alas, no luck this time---it doesn't work. So what's one s...

See Store>Silverfast Pricing, Products>IT8 calibration targets on this site and you'll find answer to your question, which is "It depends" (no pun about Bill Clinton intended). In fact, it depends on the scanner: IT8 + target comes with SF for some scanners (e.g., Nikon), for others it is extra.

cmori was not alone in his/her frustration. Blame it on LSI's endemic lack of timely and complete update release notes.

I think that both user name and password are case sensitive. Try again, carefully, or else, complain to LSI.

Updating SF: is Uninstall still needed?

In order to update SF, the previous version had to be removed; that was my understanding. Is this still neccessary for v6.1x with its online updating feature?
