Re: Missing number on first file of batch scan

Thomas,

I continued fiddling with my configuration after posting this message. Quitting and restarting the application or fiddling with the settings didn't rectify the problem, but, as you suggested, deleting the preferences and restarting did the trick. It hasn't reoccurred.

Thanks,

Andreas

Missing number on first file of batch scan

I upgraded to SilverFast AI v6.6.0r4c to scan in a few carousels of slides and am using an Epson 4990 plugged into a G4 Mac Mini running 10.5.6. The slide tray holds eight slides, and I'm running into trouble with the first filename for each batch. For example, I'll select the eight slides using the...

We are currently testing Silverfast on this new platform, using the Rosetta- emulation provided by the operating system. So far, Epson and Nikon scanners (USB and FireWire) seem to run flawlessly. It will be a while until we can offer true cross- platform code, and right now it is too early to say ...

Hey, What scale factor are you using for these scans? If it is more than 100% then you might be forcing image interpolation, which I have found to slow things down. Multiplying the scale factor times your desired output resolution gives you the actual resolution your scanner will use. If I want to ...

Re: Scanning at high resolutions locks computer

The problem was that my iBook simply couldn't handle high-resolution scans of large-format images. I picked up a 2.0 GHz MacBook Pro last week, immediately added another GB of memory, and it's happy to scan 4x5s at 48-bit resolution and 4800 dpi with ICE. The scans take a few hours, but it remains r...

What does SilverFast tell you the file size will be? I upgraded to SilverFast 6.4.3r6b and ran a number of tests to look for correlation between scan settings and the computer locking up. These were all of a 4x5 transparency, and the size referrs to the expected size of the resulting scan. These we...

The ones that crash are 175+ MB. 150 MB is safe, more than that and problems occur.

I've tried both. The same things happens regardless of whether I scan into Photoshop or to a file.

Hello, the problem seems to be solved with Version 6.4.2r9 Many thanks to the Silverfast test and development teams. Regards Wolfgang I've also ugraded to 6.4.2r9 but am still having the same problem. Scanning a 4x5 transparency at 1200 dpi works without a hitch, but increasing the resolution to 18...

Scanning at high resolutions locks computer

I have an iBook G3 with 640 MB running OS X 10.4.2 and purchased an Epson 4990 Pro to scan 4x5 transparencies. I already had Photoshop Elements 3.0 installed on this computer and upgraded the version of Silverfast Ai that shipped with the scanner to 6.4.2r2a. The scanner is connected via FireWire. A...
