I am already using Silverfast Ai 6 on OS X 1.5 and intend to get 10.2 next week.

I have a Nikon 8000 Scanner using Silverfast 6 on 10.5 and the results are the best I have ever achieved. Well done Silverfast!

Nikon have finally released their Nikon Scan 3.1.3 software which supports the LS 4000, and LS 8000 Scanners under Mac OSX.
This means we have a fighting chance of having a Silverfast version in the forseeable future. This is great news!

I forgot to say in my last post that Nikon Scan 3.1.3 is an OSX version and it seems to work the same as the OS 9 version.

I am using Silverfast 5.5Ai with my Nikon 8000 and that has Digital ICE and I think the 4000 does as well.

I don't know about the Minolta scanner but you can use ICE in raw mode on the Nikon 8000 scanner.

According to Nikon, they plan to have a stand alone (i.e not a photoshop plud-in) available sometime in April 2002. I obtained the info from the following site: -

Mr President, Believe me I am sure I speak for many people when I say that I very much appreciate your company's pro active work making Silverfast OS X compatable. Nikon and Epson are miles away. Silverfasts quality and features coupled with the stability of OS X makes a formidable combination. Than...

Ian,

Why do you convert to 8 bit to print.
All the Epson printers that I knoe of can print in 16 bit mode, at least in Photoshop 6.

Ian A,

This has been my view all along, especially as my Polaroid Sprintscan 120 works OK.
My problem is getting Silverfast to acknowledge the possability that there might be a Bug in the Nikon 8000 version of Ai 5.5

Thanks for all your help.

Ian,

I already use a separate 4Gig partition for my scratch disk and it currently has 3.86 Gig free.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
