scanning magazine articles with SilverFast 8?

hi all. I need to scan magazine articles. this would involve scanning the multiple parts/pages of the article, aligning and stitching together parts of the same page, and exporting everything as a multi-page pdf document. can I do this with SilverFast 8? or will I need to use a second application to...

Re: HDRi iSRD not affective at non-original resolutions?

judging by the recommended procedure of setting output settings before configuring SRD, and by what I'm seeing here, I'd assume that you're scaling the Infrared layer before matching it against the image. Unfortunately, the scaling does not accurately match the image and after scaling, the Infrared ...

HDRi iSRD not affective at non-original resolutions?

hi. I'm scanning my film at the highest hardware resolution possible for my Nikon Coolscan 4000ED scanner. I'm saving to HDRi. I'm then opening the files in SF HDR Studio. There is considerable mold on my negatives (20 years old, and Hong Kong is rather humid for film) so iSRD is important. I've enc...

Re: Corrupt Infrared layers in Batch HDRi files

I've only run it on Snow Leopard. I might try it on Leopard if I get around to installing SF on my MacBook Pro. I replied to your email with several files except that your mail server returned my message saying that the "development" account was unknown. I sent my message again to "su...

Re: does anyone have a list of film codes?

after posting the message, I remembered one place I'd seen such a list and set out to find it again. I found it, but unfortunately because it's listed by a major competitor to SilverFast, the forum won't let me post its URL  if anyone wants to see the list, email me and I'll give you the URL o...

Re: can we transfer Negafix profiles from Ai to HDR?

I never imagined that selecting a Scanner would change the Negafix selection, but it does. When I choose Nikon Scanner as the source, I'm then able to choose Ektapress from the Kodak film types.

Thank you.

does anyone have a list of film codes?

hi. we have a lot of film to scan but we don't know the brand/type of film in most cases. All we have are the codes printed on the film (most of it anyway). Does anyone know where lists of film codes and their associated film brands/types can be found? It would help immensely when using Negafix. che...

can we transfer Negafix profiles from Ai to HDR?

hi.

there are a couple of Negafix profiles in Ai that are not in HDR. Can we transfer/copy the profiles out of Ai into HDR?

eg, Kodak "Ektapress Plus" which I used extensively for a few years.

cheers,
Gregory

Re: with feeder and no slide mounted, clicking Eject hangs SF Ai

I left SF running in Batch Mode last night, and this morning when I woke, it had completed the Batch and correctly displayed the "Batch Completed" dialog. Cool!

I'll have to see if it repeats this desired behaviour with future Batch scans.

More later...

Re: with feeder and no slide mounted, clicking Eject hangs SF Ai

Related to the above problem: In Batch mode while using the SF-210 auto-feeder, when the scanner has scanned the last slide in the feeder and there are no more slides to load, SF hangs. There is no way to avoid this unless you know exactly how many slides will be scanned and set the correct value in...

UI problems with the Batch Save dialogs

When the Batch Save dialog is presented, either in response to Batch (File) scan, or to a Job Manager scan, the SF options are not immediately visible. The user needs to resize the dialog to force a redraw. The SF options then present themselves. Interacting with any object that hides or displays an...

with feeder and no slide mounted, clicking Eject hangs SF Ai

hi. I have the SF-210 auto-feeder attached to my Coolscan 4000 ED. If in SF Ai Studio, I click the "Eject slide" button while there is no slide loaded in the scanner, then SF hangs indefinitely requiring a Force-Quit. SF also hangs when I click the "Eject slide" button if a slide...

cannot concurrently run SF Ai and SF HDR?

hi. I've begun setting up and running SF on my Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. I'll report oddities as I encounter them, although not all of the oddities because there are quite a few. I'm currently running SF Ai Nikon (Coolscan 4000 ED). It's scanning a batch of mounted negatives in an SF-210 attachm...
